When a marriage is struggling, it’s only natural to wonder if your spouse is going to stick it out and work through the problems or cut their losses and run.
How do you tell if your spouse is considering a divorce? While there are all kinds of potential signs that a divorce is coming, the electronic ones may be the most clear. If any of these things are true, your spouse may already have one foot out of the door:
1. You’re getting ads for family law offices on your devices
If you haven’t looked into divorce but your Facebook feed and the ads that pop up when you’re online are all related to family law offices, that probably means someone in your household or close to you has been researching the topic. Targeted marketing can spill someone’s secrets for them.
2. You’re suddenly unable to access your spouse’s electronics
If your spouse has suddenly made their electronic devices “off-limits” through one method or another, the odds are high that they’re hiding something. You should take note if your spouse is suddenly taking their phone with them into the bathroom when they shower or if the keycode they use on their laptop has changed.
3. You notice an abrupt lack of activity on their social media pages
Did your spouse turn off the “check-in” feature on their social media apps? Have they abruptly quit posting on social media when they used to post nearly daily? They may be actively seeking to hide their movements from you by turning off check-in features, and they may already have a second (hidden) social media account in use. This is part of the prep work that many spouses do when they’re planning a divorce.
If you suspect that you’re headed for a divorce, it’s always better to take a proactive approach. Learning more about the process can help you prepare for what may come.
